Lefkonikon is one of the nine Municipalities of Cyprus that are under Turkish occupation since 1974. Lefkoniko is a town which played a leading role in Cyprus both in the cultural and economy sectors and its history can be traced back to 5000 BC. The Municipality itself was founded in 1939.
