Profile
Larnaka is a coastal municipality situated in the south-eastern part of Cyprus (Larnaka district). It has a long history dating back to the 20th century B.C. The Municipality itself was founded in 1859. The town has a population of 46,666 and its economy is mainly based on its port and airport (national) and the tourism sector. Larnaka has a long experience working on European projects (both as a lead partner, as well as a partner), in the areas of culture, research, e-government, environment. Our municipality is well known for its salt lakes. Larnaka is member to the Medcities (www.medcities.org) and E.G.T.C Amphictyony (www.amphictyony.gr) networks. We are interested in new partnerships (especially with coastal towns) for the participation in projects on the theme of culture.
